Internetology - Domain Name Transfers

Complete Domain Transfer

Your ISP may require that instead of simply changing the DNS servers (Option 2) they also want to look after the administration and billing for your domain name. In many cases there is no actual requirement (as changing the DNS servers gives them full control over setting up web / email services for the domain) but some do insist for various reasons.

If you are actually looking to transfer your .com, .net or .org domain away and also move it to another registry please see here for more details.

This type of change is a complete transfer - with this option you should contact your new ISP and get them to submit a "Change Request" to InterNic / Network solutions. It is important that they change the admin, billing and technical contacts for the domain as we cannot share responsibility for a domain name.

Once they submit the request to the central registrar they will be issued with a NIC tracking number - these look something like: [NIC-00aaa11b.abcd]

If this is the option you want we will need you to send us the text in the box below by fax (see here for our numbers). The fax should be on the domain name registrant's letterhead paper and signed by the registered owner or if for a company by an authorised signatory.

We are the current registered owners of the domain name(s): [enter the domain name]

We would like to transfer this domain name to a new ISP. You will shortly receive a request from Network Solutions on tracking number [enter NIC tracking number] with the required changes.

We hereby authorise you to accept the changes detailed on that request.

If you have any questions about this request please contact us at [enter your email address] or call us on [enter your telephone number].

If you are unable to fax it you will need to send it via post (see here for our address) again on the company letterhead paper of the domain owner.

Please note that different domain name types have seperate transfer / domain change requirements - please see here for more details.

To check the status of your domain name using our WHOIS database lookup please see here. Please note that although we will process the transfer usually within a few hours of receiving the request from InterNic / Network Solutions and your fax confirmation. it can take several days until the changes update in the central database and have propagated across the Internet.

Please note that it is our policy not to transfer a domain name away from our servers while there is any payment due on your account.
