We have seen a few companies offering very low cost or even free domain name registration. Domain registration cannot be "truly" free as we have to submit your domain for registration, maintain your domain for up to 2 years on our DNS servers and pay (on your behalf) fees towards the maintenance of the central domain registry databases.

Companies that do not charge for domain registration usually hide the cost with:

• Price Does Not Include Registry Fees - if the central registry fees are not paid for you - you will get a bill from the central database registry for £80 + VAT for a .uk domain or US$70 for a .com domain. All our registration prices include the central registry fees.
• Domains Not Registered With Network Solutions - Network Solutions have been registering domain names since the Internet started and currently hold around 98% of all .com domain names. Although there are other registries (many offering lower prices) that can register .com, .net and .org domains many have only been registering names for a few months. We use Network Solutions for .com, .net and .org registrations as they have a proven track record and we trust their systems and infrastructure to handle your domain records.
• Domain Release / Transfer Fees - some registrars charge these so should you wish to move your domain to another ISP you will pay around £40-80 + VAT although we have seen up to £200 + VAT. We do not charge ANY release / transfer fee.
  You have to use their dialup account or web space - restricting your choice and does not give you flexibility to take the exact services you want. We would never recommend being "tied" to using a particular dialup service with new high-speed technologies and unmetered "free" access just around the corner! We offer web / email services and dialup access but you are under no obligation to take it!
• DNS Management Charges - usually around £10-50 over the 2 year period - this is very important should you wish to keep your domain "independent" from your web hosting company or if you ever wanted to host your own web server in the future. We do not charge extra for DNS Management.
