Internetology - Email Services FAQ

How do I send email as me@mydomain.com

When you have your own domain name and have web space / email setup for it, you will be able to receive email as anyone@your-domain.com

However, if you are using another ISP to collect your e-mail although you will "receive" mail as anyone@your-domain.com, you will still send it as, for example

john.smith@mycompany.freeserve.co.uk

The real benefit of having your own domain name is to be able to send AND receive mail as anyone@your-domain.com

The ability to "send" email as you@your-domain.com is a feature of your email program (e.g Outlook Express / Microsoft Exchange).
Many free e-mail providers dictate what the extension on your email address will be, preventing you from sending email as you@your-domain.com
With an Internetology dial up account, this can be simply fixed by changing the email address in the configuration of your email program to a new address as anyone@your-domain.com

This will work with the majority of email programs.
However, it should be noted that not all email programs support changing the email address (they have it "hard coded").

Our dialups are fully POP3 / SMTP compliant (so can be used with virtually any standard Internet email package) and will support sending mail as you@your-domain.com
