Internetology - Web Hosting FAQ
When you take web space from us you will be allocated a FTP host name, FTP user name and password - you can then use a FTP program (or your design package) to upload and download your web pages to or from our servers. When you login to the server you will see a directory called /public-html - change to this directory. In the /public-html directory you will see a directory for the domain name you have setup web space for. The name of the directory will exactly match the domain name - for example: your-domain-name.com Change into that directory and that is the "root" of the web server for that domain - you should upload you files and create sub-directories here to make them accessable. When you first login to your site you will see an index.html or index.shtml file already there - this is our standard placeholder and should be deleted or renamed before you upload you own files! |
